August 12th - Greetings from the Royal Burough of Windsor and Maidenhead
We have been in the UK for a few days now, and what a few days they have been! After our brief stop in Iceland, we flew into London's Gatwick airport and spent the night in a nearby hotel before hoping onto a train (with seconds to spare!) bound for Reading, and then to Maidenhead, where we were greeted by Holly's Oma Elke and Opa Nigel. We have spent the last few days in their company, occasionally joined by Holly's aunt Heike, uncle Mark, and cousin Beatrice. After an easygoing first day spent strolling by the banks of the Thames in Maidenhead, we have since had the chance to visit the nearby towns of Marlow and Cookham. Today, we took a short drive down to Windsor, where we saw the Queen's favourite castle, strolled about the famous Eton College, and tucked in to a few lovely shops on the high street.
